Saturday was bright and sunny from the start, although a little windy as the Parish Council marquee went up. Other stallholders started to appear and soon Wootton Recreation Ground was a hive of activity. Bacon rolls from the Scout building were eagerly awaited and have become something of a tradition. By 2.00 p.m. the crowds had arrived and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves. The ice cream van did a roaring trade as did the bar at the Rugby Club and refreshments at the Scout Hut. The public’s favourite motorbike was a new attraction for this year and we were delighted at the turnout from bikers across the Island. The evening music picnic started at 6.00 p.m. with The Herd leading the bands in the evening. There was music to suit all tastes and as the sun set no one seemed in a hurry to go home. The Village Partnership plan to meet shortly to look at what went well and what could be done better for next year.
