Attending & Speaking at Meetings

You can now speak during Parish Council meetings! As part of a new initiative to better involve residents in village matters, members of the public are now able to speak during parish council meetings on any agenda item, prior to members' discussion, for a period not exceeding 5 minutes for each person. If a group of people wishes to speak on the same agenda item they will be asked to nominate a representative from among themselves to speak for a maximum of 5 minutes, to express the views of the group. The Chairman reserves the right to limit the number of speakers and the amount of time they speak on any agenda item and his/her decision will be final. Please note: There is also an Open Forum at the start of every meeting when members of the public can raise any matters of concern or ask questions on any item that is not on the agenda. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month except August when no meeting is (usually) held.

Wootton Bridge Plan

We had a display at Party in the Park showing you the feedback received from our Village Plan consultation day held in February this year. To view the display please click on the following links:- Getting out and about.pdf highways and traffic.pdf how our village should look.pdf making our village more prosperous.pdf making wootton greener.pdf our community facilities.pdf our countryside and coastline.pdf our village community.pdf police and nwatch.pdf

The Plan will cover all aspects of our village life, based on what you have told us you would like, and will include village design, economy, countryside and coastline and traffic and transport. We will be starting work on the first draft during the summer. The Wootton Bridge Plan will supersede our 2004 regeneration plan and will incorporate an updated version of our Village Design Statement. It will be a very important document which will help us to secure the funding and support we will need to achieve our aims. We will keep you informed of progress and you will have the opportunity to comment on each section of the draft plan, the first of which will be Traffic and Transport, which we hope to have ready by the end of the year.

Model Publication Scheme

Under the Freedom of Information Act it is the duty of every public authority to adopt and maintain a publication scheme. Publication schemes facilitate the proactive release of information and play a crucial role in supporting and providing greater openness and transparency across the public sector.

In line with section 20 of the Act the Information Commissioner has approved a new model publication scheme. This was adopted by the Parish Council at it's meeting held on Tuesday 18 November 2008 and is effective from 1 January 2009. Please click on the following links to view the Model Scheme and the Guide to Information.
