Attending & Speaking at Meetings

You can now speak during Parish Council meetings! As part of a new initiative to better involve residents in village matters, members of the public are now able to speak during parish council meetings on any agenda item, prior to members' discussion, for a period not exceeding 5 minutes for each person. If a group of people wishes to speak on the same agenda item they will be asked to nominate a representative from among themselves to speak for a maximum of 5 minutes, to express the views of the group. The Chairman reserves the right to limit the number of speakers and the amount of time they speak on any agenda item and his/her decision will be final. Please note: There is also an Open Forum at the start of every meeting when members of the public can raise any matters of concern or ask questions on any item that is not on the agenda. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month except August when no meeting is (usually) held.

If you haven't been to see us yet, please call in! If we can't help you, we usually know someone who can. We are open to the public every weekday from 10.00am until 1.30pm (to 1pm Mondays). We also sell garden waste sacks.

Wootton Bridge Village Plan 2011 launched

We displayed the new Village Plan 2011 at this year's Party in the Park. The plan is based on feedback received from various consultation events held over the past year and is intended to be a live document reviewed regularly and debated often. Major changes proposed to local government and planning responsibilities currently passing through parliament in the Localism Bill are expected to become law by the autumn. This should help ensure that important decisions pay greater regard to the wishes of the community.

To view the document and comment online please click on the following link:- Village Plan 2011

The Plan covers all aspects of our village life, based on what you have told us you would like, and includes village design, economy, countryside and coastline and traffic and transport. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. The Wootton Bridge Village Plan 2011 will supersede our 2004 regeneration plan and will incorporate an interim updated version of our Village Design Statement.

Model Publication Scheme

Under the Freedom of Information Act it is the duty of every public authority to adopt and maintain a publication scheme. Publication schemes facilitate the proactive release of information and play a crucial role in supporting and providing greater openness and transparency across the public sector.

In line with section 20 of the Act the Information Commissioner has approved a new model publication scheme. This was adopted by the Parish Council at it's meeting held on Tuesday 18 November 2008 and is effective from 1 January 2009. Please click on the following links to view the model scheme.doc and the guide to information. You may also contact the Clerk at the address above for more details.
