The new Heron Line 34 Bus route serving Havenstreet and Wootton was launched on 5th September with a civic ceremony and TV coverage. The leaders of Wootton Bridge and Havenstreet & Ashey Parish Councils, Ken Morris and Veronica Hattersley, hold the ribbon for local volunteer driver Rex Goldsmith to cut. The 34 Bus replaces the Wight Bus service that was a victim of budget cuts. It is a joint initiative of the Parish Councils, the IW Council and Southern Vectis, and will be driven by local volunteers, who are fully trained by the bus company, and without whom this important public service would have been lost. The new bus will run weekday mornings and early afternoon in an hourly service. Bus passes are welcome. The easy access SOLO buses as pictured on the timetable are now operating on our route.

Timetable & Route

Important Route Information: The Bus starts and finishes its hourly circuit from Brannon Way in Wootton Bridge, just off the High Street by the Community Centre. Please note that the bus makes a clockwise loop of the North Wootton estates, before heading out to Havenstreet via Kite Hill and Newnham Road. It returns to Wootton via Combley and Briddlesford directly to Brannon Way. The bus then makes an anti-clockwise circuit of the North Wootton Estates, returning to Brannon Way, before starting its next hourly circuit.

About Your Community Bus

Your new bus service is a joint initiative by the IW Council, Southern Vectis, and the Parish Councils of Wootton Bridge and Havenstreet & Ashey. There are similar schemes across the Island aimed at safeguarding important services that would otherwise have been lost due to budget cuts.

The drivers are all volunteers, who have kindly given up a few weeks of their time to be trained by Southern Vectis to gain a full passenger bus licence. The buses are fully maintained and insured by Southern Vectis, and are available to our service in between being used for school transport in the mornings and evenings.

This route depends on its passengers for long term survival. There are no set fares but please donate what you can, as this will help us to sustain or expand the service. Sponsorship from local businesses along the route is also very welcome.

If you have any suggestions for improvements to the route or the service, please speak to the driver at one of the stopovers, or contact your local parish council office.
